Casglu is a monthly space for dancers, movers and makers to get together to move, share and connect across North Wales. Casglu is a partnership between North Wales Dance Collective, and Theatr Clwyd.

These sessions are aimed at anyone with a professional dance or movement practice as well as students in full-time training.

Workshop with Angharad Jones-Young

Sunday 17th November
10am-1pm
St Mary’s Church Hall, King St, Mold, CH7 1LA

The workshop will begin with a guided warm up and contemporary floorwork fundamentals which will then lead into travelling and set phrases. Parts of the session will also focus on Afro-fusion dance styles blended with contemporary dance, primarily focussing on musicality, rhythms and timing through the use of the spinal articulation and footwork.

Bio
Angharad Jones-Young is a contemporary dancer, performer and teacher who grew up in Snowdonia, North Wales. Angharad studied at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (2017-2021) before going on to join National Dance Company Wales as an apprentice dancer (2021-2022). There, she toured works by Andrea Costanzo-Martini, Anthony Matsena and Caroline Finn. Angharad then became a company dancer with ACE dance & music - a contemporary/afro-fusion company based in Birmingham - where she toured both nationally and internationally, performing work by Vincent Mantsoe, Gail Parmel and Serge Coulibaly. In 2024, Angharad decided to pursue her career as a freelance dancer and has since been working with various companies including Ransack Dance Company and Keneish Dance. Angharad is also very passionate about teaching and choreography, and has made work/taught for Elmhurst Ballet School, DanceFest and various Centres for Advanced Training.


Workshop with Bryn Thomas

Saturday 14th December

10-1pm

St Mary’s Church Hall, King St, Mold, CH7 1LA

In Bryn’s workshop we will draw from techniques from Contact improvisation, Floorwork and Improvisation. We will dance with each other, with and without touch. We will explore what it means for us to move as ourselves, and why we share our movement with others. Expect to be physically challenged, to move with pleasure and to move together. This is a workshop for all bodies. Kneepads are advised if you have sensitive knees.

Bryn has performed and taught across the UK and internationally for the last 10 years. He specialises in improvisational practice and floor work. He regularly performs with Simone Mousset and is a guest lecturer at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

Bio

Daisy Howell (She/Her) - Welsh Dance Artist, Choreographer & Producer working across the North West and Wales. Her career has varied across professional touring, choreographing and lecturing, leading to the co-direction and founding of her own cross collaborative company, Night People, based in Manchester. Specialising in Contemporary Movement, Cabaret Theatre, Visual Art and Sound Design, Daisy’s work has toured across the UK, platforming Queer/Femme narratives through mix-medium performance and fanatical events!
