National Youth Theatre of Wales works with leading theatre partners to offer first class training and performance opportunities to Wales' most talented young people. Providing FREE auditions and bursary support, NYAW is committed to removing financial barriers to participation within the arts.

Who is it for?

50 talented 16 – 22 year olds who live, study or from Wales, ready to take their creative, performance and technical skills to the next level.

You may be…

  • Studying or taking part in drama/performance in your school or college
  • At drama school and preparing for the next step in your career
  • Taking part in youth theatre or musical theatre in your area
  • A passionate creative who’s curious about behind the scenes storytelling and backstage skills.
What do you get from NYTW 2025 Membership?

Members will take advantage of 3 training and development residential experiences across Wales between June and November 2025 where they will;

  • Connect and work with the best companies and artists from Wales and beyond, including our key industry partners Theatr Clwyd and Wales Millennium Centre.
  • Boost their skillset and confidence as performers in workshops and masterclasses delivered by Vocal coaches, movement directors, directors, writers, Casting agents, sound designer, digital storytellers and much, much more!
  • Make friends for life and enjoy our varied social programme.
  • See brilliant work and get insight from professional creative teams.
  • Help us shape NYTW's 2026 Anniversary production!
  • Work and play in a proudly bilingual environment.
What are the 5 Programme Strands?
  1. Stage and Screen
    Craft Essential acting skills to turbo charge your progression as a performer
  2. The Joy of Making
    Get to grips with devising and co-creation, writing and digital immersive storytelling
  3. Pathways+
    Sessions with industry professionals to help with the next step of your training or career progression
  4. Off Stage and Screen Skills
    Explore new ways of working behind the scenes and adding to your skills toolbox
  5. Lab 50–
    Explore ideas, styles and staging in the rehearsal room with writers and directors to shape and be a part of our 50th Year anniversary performance taking place in 2026.
Where do the main residential activities take place?

Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff: 27 – 29 June

Yr Egin + Trinity St David’s University, Carmarthen: 24 – 30 August Theatr Clwyd

Mold: 23 – 26 October *NYTW members take part in all three residential experiences.

NYAW offer FREE auditions to anyone who can’t afford the audition fee – no questions asked. Plus, based on household income, applicants are entitled to discounts on membership fees through their Bursary Scheme.
