News Story
This is a call out to theatres across the UK about a design opportunity supported by Theatr Clwyd and the Theatre Artists Fund.
Millie Lamkin is currently the Trainee Designer at Theatr Clwyd and is available for design work from February to August 2024. Any work Millie does during this period is fully funded. This period will see Millie move into the second stage of her training with us, which supports her in connecting with the wider theatre industry and working on projects outside of Theatr Clwyd for 6 months, time dedicated to her professional pathway.
Millie graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) in July 2022 and started the first phase of training at Theatr Clywd in August 2022. Since then, she has been given inside experience of a working theatre. She was Scenic Assistant on our pantomime, Robin Hood designed by Adrian Gee; our co-production with Chichester Festival Theatre, The Famous Five, a new musical, designed by Lucy Osbourne; and The Great Gatsby designed by Heledd Rhys. While with us Millie has also been Costume Supervisor on one of the Community Justice projects and has been involved in various creative engagement projects throughout the year. She also designed the set and costume for Truth or Dare, a great chance to collaborate with four different directors and work on 10 new plays.

Working at a producing house for the last year has taught me a great deal about the industry and my own practice. I am especially excited about community theatre and exploring the impact the arts can have on people. I am interested in telling stories that are politically charged, which need to be told and shared with the world. I’d love to get involved in all sorts of projects, whether it’s new writing, site specific, or a classic play.Millie Lamkin
