Huw Davies
Huw Davies is a Welsh artist whose work grows out of the stories, mythologies, and history of the land he has grown up on. He works predominantly in sculpture, paint and film, and has participated in arts projects all over the world – from Aberystwyth to Arizona. His work has received numerous recognitions including a BAFTA, an Investors in People award, and a National Eco Projects award.
Recent artworks include a series of bronze mask sculptures at Bailey Hill in Mold, which form a puzzle that encourages communities to engage with nearly-forgotten stories; and a participatory project drawing on the longstanding sculptural tradition of the Welsh Stick Chair.
Alongside his art practice, Huw is currently studying for a Master's Degree at Glyndwr/Wrexham University. In June 2024 he will travel to Brazil with the university, to create a site-specific artwork in collaboration with the Federal University of Vitória. He lives with his family in North Wales.
