News Story
Theatr Clwyd’s latest show Truth or Dare showcases the finest talent from across Wales. The venue has commissioned ten brand new plays to be written along the theme of Truth or Dare.
The concept has been built on Curtain Up which was performed in September 2021 and received 4 stars from The Guardian. It saw the creation of 15 new short plays, performed over 3 weeks by a cast of 30 actors. Developing on this, this year’s plays will be split into two themed events which will be performed throughout April and May with 20 actors taking on these diverse pieces.
Each of these brand-new plays will be captioned in Welsh and English with the scripts being a mixture of English language, bi-lingual and Welsh language.
Truth is five teasing plays to push your buttons. Secrets and lies when the lights are out. Do you want to hear it? Can you handle it?
Writing for Truth are Alexandria Riley (The In-Between), Ceri Ashe (Bipolar Me), Lucie Lovatt, Melangell Dolma (Bachu) and Theatr Clwyd’s very own pantomime writer Christian Patterson (Robin Hood the Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto).
Dare is five mischievous plays asking what makes you pop. Spin the bottle, risk it all. I’ll show you mind if you show me yours. Do you Dare to watch?
Dare writers include Greg Glover, Hannah Daniel (Theatr Clwyd’s 2022 Writers in Residence), Kallum Weyman, Natasha Kaeda (In My Lungs The Ocean Swells), Bethan Marlow (Mold Riots).
